Call for CANGlia 2026 Symposia Proposals | Deadline: December 31st, 2025

The Canadian Association for Neuroscientists who study Glia (CANGlia) is now accepting Proposals for the 2026 CANGlia Meeting in Montreal (May 15-16th, 2026), with a deadline of Wednesday, December 31st, 2025. Please see below for more details and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Proposals for symposia from all fields of glial research are invited. Themes may include, but are not limited to: cellular and molecular mechanisms, normal physiology, brain development, aging, neurodevelopmental, psychiatric, and degenerative diseases, and sex differences in glial cell function in health and disease.

Symposia
Symposia should last 1.5 hours and can include up to four speakers, including the chairperson. The format (i.e., length of talks, panel discussion, etc.) is flexible and should be described in the proposal.
The basic criteria for selection are the scientific interest of the topics. Preference will be given to symposia that consider more than one glial cell type and/or glial-glial interactions. The balance of gender and the geographical distribution of speakers' affiliations will also be taken into consideration. Each group must include one trainee (including postdoctoral fellow) and one early career researcher (ECR).

Proposal Submission and Deadline
Proposals should be submitted by email to: canglia2024@gmail.com by December 31st, 2025. For administrative purposes, all correspondence with the CANGlia Committee should be done exclusively by the person who submitted the proposal.

Decision on Proposals
The CANGlia Local Organizing Committee will examine all proposals, which are complete and follow the rules. Proposals may be accepted as they stand. In some cases, the Committee may accept a proposal provided that the chairperson(s) include modifications necessary to improve the proposal and/or to make it coherent with other selected symposia.
Decisions will be sent to participants via email in early February 2026.

Funding
Travel and accommodation expenses will NOT be covered.

Information Required for Submission:
• Title of symposium
• Abstract for symposium (max 150 words)
• For each speaker: Name, university affiliation and rank, contact information and email (Note: the symposium chair will be the main contact for the organisers)

• Proposed symposium program: Title of each talk and format of symposium (i.e. talk length, question and answer period, panel discussion, etc.)
